OUTREACH ACTIVITIES

Haws Avenue Soup Kitchen

Five to six times a year, volunteers serve healthy lunches to the visitors of the Haws Avenue Soup Kitchen in Norristown

Valley Forge Park Clean-up

St. Matthew’s UMC has participated in the National Public Lands Day at Valley Forge National Park for over ten years, providing stewardship to God's earth and service to our community. In past years the St. Matthew's team has done trail reconstruction, cleaned up the site of an abandoned nursery, reseeded a picnic area, battled invasive weeds and cleared litter from Catfish Island.

Giving Thanks, Giving Back

Beneficiary: United Methodist Neighborhood Services

The United Methodist Neighborhood Services focuses on supporting marginalized youth and families and will distribute donated food to those experiencing food insecurity around the holidays.

Christmas Toy Drive

Beneficiary: Midtown Parish United Methodist Church, Philadelphia

Each year St. Matthew’s supports Midtown in their mission by conducting a Christmas Toy Drive that benefits those in Midtown’s community.

Clothing

Beneficiary: The Center - Philadelphia

The Center - Philadelphia, is a non-profit organization sponsored by Arch Street United Methodist Church that minister to the homeless of Philadelphia.

SPECIAL OFFERINGS

Easter

Beneficiaries: Meals On Wheels; Great Valley Cupboard; Arch Street UMC- Grace Café; Surrey Services for Seniors; Wayne Senior Center; Norristown Hospitality Center

Native American Ministries

Beneficiary: Native American Ministries

Gifts will go towards scholarships for Native American seminary students, urban ministries for Native Americans and development of local ministries.

Fall

Beneficiaries: Four Connectional Sundays (World Communion, Peace with Justice, Human Relations, UM Student)

Christmas

Beneficiary: Midtown Parish United Methodist Church

Midtown Parish UMC is located at the corner of 7th and Norris Streets, in the heart of North Philadelphia. For 186 years the church has remained a focal point of local missions. 

Through this annual offering, it has become part of St. Matthew’s mission to support Midtown in their continued service to their community.
