Community Resources

There are many local, regional and national agencies offering a variety of assistance, and navigating those options can quickly feel overwhelming. To make the search easier, St. Matthew’s has compiled a current list of trusted resources where various types of support are available.

  • To find retailers that accept SNAP near you, browse the U.S. Department of Agriculture website.

    Door Dash

DoorDash, an online delivery service, announced that it will waive delivery and service fees for SNAP recipients.

Customers who link their electronic benefits transfer (EBT) cards to their DoorDash profile can shop at select grocery retailers and get free delivery on an order.

    Check Your EBT Balance

Unused SNAP benefits from previous months may still be available. Benefits usually stay on your card for up to 12 months. Visit your state’s EBT portal or call the number on the back of your card to check your balance.

    Call 2-1-1

Even though SNAP is a federal program, it’s run by individual states and supported by local nonprofits and food banks that work directly with people facing food insecurity.

One of the easiest ways to find resources near you is by Calling 2-1-1.

A quick call can connect you with programs that offer food aid. The staff and volunteers who answer calls can point you to nearby food pantries, free meal programs or other local resources and calls are confidential

Prefer not to call? You can also text, chat online or search their database at 211.org for local contact details.
