Congregational Care

Providing Care for the People by the People

Our church members and the pastor provide care for the congregation, and care by the congregation. That care could mean delivering a meal to new parents, making visits wherever they are needed, or making a difference in someone’s life in dozens of other ways. Many members of St. Matthew’s serve in one of our ministries as part of their service to the church.

Do you need help?

If you or someone you know in our church family is dealing with a sudden or chronic illness, tragedy, or loss in your family; feeling disconnected because of the inability to attend church; or giving care to a loved one and need an extra pair of hands for an errand, please call 610-688-7055.

Available Care

Pastoral Visitation

Sudden illness, death, or personal crises can be a stressful even in your life or the life of someone you love and do not always happen during regular business hours. Our pastor is always available to our membership for pastoral emergencies such as hospital, home, and care center visits to assure them that they are being remembered during this time.

To reach the pastor on call, please call 610-533-9367. Leave a message and the pastor will get back in touch with you.

Care & Service

When someone’s health prevents them from attending worship, they are not forgotten. A team of dedicated church members sends cards, makes a phone call or regularly visits to ensure that the homebound know that they are in the thoughts of their church family.

Grief Support Group

Grief has no barriers or timelines and not all grief looks the same. If you are struggling with grief or the isolation that it can bring, please join our Grief Support Group. A safe environment where you can tell your story and express feelings freely, knowing that others will be understanding, non-judgmental, and supportive.

Join us Wednesday’s at 7 PM for the St. Matthew’s Grief Support Group.

Intercessory Prayer

St. Matthew’s maintains an active prayer chain where members and friends of the congregation can request prayer for particular people or situations and know that the many members of the church are praying for that need.

Meals

If someone requires short term meal assistance during a recovery from illness, injury or surgery, a team of wonderful cooks is at the ready to provide fresh, home cooked meals.
