The Music at St. Matthew’s
Have a song in your heart? Melodies on your mind?
If so, there is a place for you in the Music Ministry of St. Matthew’s United Methodist Church of Valley Forge.
From Bell Choir to Children’s Choir, all are welcome.
The Chancel Choir
Composed of volunteer singers ages high school through adult, the Chancel Choir rehearses each Sunday from 9:30 am to 10:30 am in the choir room, and at 7 pm on the first Thursday of each month. This group learns to sing a wide variety of music from sacred classics to works by current composers. The Chancel Choir always welcomes new members. We supply the music and the robe and together we will enjoy making music to the Glory of God. Come and sing with us!
The Chancel Ringers play an eclectic mix of traditional and contemporary music for handbells and chimes. Rehearsals are Sunday evenings from 7 until 8:30. No auditions or experience are necessary. We welcome all who would love to join us in making this glorious sound!
“Footprints” Praise Band
The Chancel Praise Band enjoy singing and playing many contemporary, popular worship songs at the 10:45 worship service on the last Sunday of each month. No experience required. If you play guitar or would like to play a handheld drum or tambourine or other instrument to add to the contemporary, more jazz oriented feel of this worship service, come and join in the fun.
Seasonal Music Offerings
St. Matthews is pleased to also offer opportunities to participate in special, seasonal musical events. We welcome all who might not be able to make a weekly commitment but who would love to join with us for our Christmas, Messiah Concert or annual Spring Concert or other special worship services throughout the year. Rehearsals for concerts precede these events 1 to 2 months in advance on a weekly basis for 1 hour.
With the support of Children and Youth Ministries at St. Matthews, there are also additional musical opportunities for young singers, instrumentalists and bell ringers to praise God.
St. Matthews is also fortunate to be able to welcome guest musicians as well as joint participation with Music Ministries from neighboring parishes for an even broader fellowship with our extended community. For more information please contact the Office at firstname.lastname@example.org and we look forward to seeing you!
