This book club typically meets the second Friday of each month (except December). All ages are welcome, and men and women both attend. The meetings are held at people’s homes. We read fiction, non-fiction, biography, memoir, and everything in between, based on suggestions by the participants. Though not all our books are faith-based, our discussions often raise faith-related questions as we hold very spirited discussion about the books. If you want a place where you can stimulate your brain (loving the Lord by using your mind), debate the merits of the book you’ve read, and enjoy fantastic fellowship, the Book Club is the place for you. Come even if you haven’t read or finished the book.
Here is the list of book selections for the upcoming months. Enjoy a book, and join us for a good discussion.
|Mar 10||“The Rebirthing of God”
by John Philip Newel
|Host E. Carroll|
|May 12||“Being Mortal”
by Atul Gawande
A practicing surgeon, addresses his profession’s ultimate limitation, arguing that quality of life is the desired goal for patients and families. Gawande offers examples of freer, more socially fulfilling models for assisting the infirm and dependent elderly, and he explores the varieties of hospice care to demonstrate that a person’s last weeks or months may be rich and dignified.
